Late 1930s still life in oils by Sigfrid Bengtsson (Swedish 1898-1985)

We sell a lot of his work but usually smaller scale, late twentieth century agricultural landscapes - horses, cows etc. with a slightly wry feel. This is a more substantial work - both artistically and physically - measuring 24.5 x 26.5 ins (62 x 67 cm) in its frame.

It is signed and dated 1938, the year Bengtsson was involved in the formation of the 'Blandningen' artists group in Skåne. He is represented in public collections including the Malmö Museum and Ystad Art Museum. ⁠
